Every piece of software on your computer; the Windows Operating System (Windows 98, Windows XP, etc.), email client (Outlook, Outlook Express, etc.), antivirus packages, browsers (Internet Explorer, Netscape, etc.) is updated frequently by their manufacturers to correct problems, maintain security, fix compatibility issues, etc. Most of their websites contain highly automated procedures to assist you in downloading and installing the most recent enhancements. These updates must be done at least monthly to protect you against
spyware.
